It's very hard to maintain a support...I agree. It's very hard to maintain a support system when you're always moving. The interesting thing about high rates of depression in academia is that there don't seem to be many statistics about it, but anecdotal evidence suggests that it's super common. And it definitely hits young mother academics hardest; it is very stressful to raise babies and young children when you don't know anyone and are far, far away from family and friends.
